Alex Gold's Gymnastics Journal

Sept. 16, 2009

Hey Tiger Fans! It's hard to believe this is already my 3rd year of college gymnastics, but I am really looking forward to it. It feels weird that I'm an upperclassman! By now, most of us have gotten back into the swing of things with school, gymnastics, study hall, etc. It is always overwhelming when the school year starts again, but I think we're all doing a good job in balancing both gymnastics and school.

This week is our last week of practice before official preseason starts on September 20th. Our schedule consists of conditioning in the gym four days a week, practice five days a week, and cardio and weights with Coach Looney five days a week. We'll do cardio Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and lift weights on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We all know it's going to be difficult, but we are all aware that it will pay off in the end. Gainesville, Florida, the host site of Nationals this year, is within our reach, and we are all excited to make this year the best we've ever had!

This past weekend, our new recruits for next year came in for their official visits. On Friday night, the whole team and the new recruits went to Rob's house to eat dinner. Saturday, they visited campus and were able to watch the first home football game against Bowling Green -- which we won! It's hard to believe these girls will be freshmen when I'll be a senior...time flies!

Stay tuned each week to see how we are progressing! This is OUR year! Go Tigers!

Alex :]
