The Missouri women's basketball team will keep a weekly blog over the summer. This week Shakara Jones fills us in on summer workouts, school and camps.
Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer so far and staying cool! For the past couple of days its been very hot! Summer school has been going pretty well. School is school no matter what time of the year but everyone on the team has been doing well and taking care of business in the classroom. Personally I have been buckling down and trying to get through this chemistry class the best I can. But I am proud that everyone on the team is doing well in their classes.
Workouts have been really good since we have started, which was June 8. Us tigers are working very hard to be the best we can be for you all and ourselves as a whole. We have even ran a mile and a half at 8 a.m. in the hot weather to gain toughness! That was a very eventful morning but the greatest thing about it was everyone got through it and crossed the finish line at great times in the heat. That just shows how committed we all are to change for the best this season. I know we will continue to work hard through out the rest of the summer.
We had our first camp two weekends ago. It was great and we had a great turn out. We had 65 teams from Missouri, Illnois and Kansas. Yes, I said Kansas! All of the teams worked hard and the kids were a joy to watch. It brought back memories on how fun team camp was back in the high school days. Last weekend we had our position camp, which was a blast as well. Camp is always fun because we get to teach the kids proper techniques and encourage them to be the best they can in this highly talented sport. I'm looking forward for the camps next month.
Well, I hope everyone keeps enjoying their summer and keep in touch with us tigers. Once again, we a working hard to be a force in the Big 12 and there is no doubt in my mind that will be. We are definitely ready for change and we are changing for the best as stated in our new moto: C. H. A. N. G. E. This stands For Competivitness, Happiness, Attitude, New Begins, Greatness, Energy!
Thanks,
Shakara
