Ubrun Named CoSIDA Academic All-District Honoree

May 7, 2009

Columbia, Mo. - Missouri third baseman Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calif.) was awarded College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First Team Academic All-District 7 Softball Honors as announced today. Ubrun is Missouri's 15th softball player to earn the yearly academic honor and extends the streak to three straight years in which the Tigers have had a player named to the All-District squad.

Ubrun, a senior general studies major with a 3.82 cumulative grade-point average, will pursue a career in education following her graduation. Missouri's resident third baseman, Ubrun is averaging .359 on the season and has hit a squad-high 14 home runs on the year. To date, Ubrun has crushed 30 home runs during her two year career at Missouri, a mark good enough for fourth best in the Missouri career home run record book.

The Tiger senior is one of four Big 12 softball players named to the 11 person first team Academic All-District squad and will be in the running for All-America honors to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Ubrun and her Tiger teammates will begin their run through the Big 12 Championship tournament Saturday, May 9, at 11 a.m. (CT) at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Tigers will face off with the winner of the Oklahoma State, Texas Tech game set for Friday evening at 5 p.m. (CT).
