This has been such a crazy week! We've been working hard to get ready for the Big 12 Tournament this weekend, preparing for finals, and attending the ROARS all within the last seven days, but I've loved every minute of it. I definitely think the highlight of my week was when our team visited the Children's Hospital. While there, we were introduced to an amazing little boy named Ethan. Ethan is three years old and has the biggest smile I've ever seen for such a little boy! He was just diagnosed with Leukemia, so he and his family were staying at the hospital for a few days until he could complete his treatments. We took lots of pictures, talked with Ethan and his family, and let them know they were in our thoughts and prayers. I'm so glad that we had the opportunity to meet such a brave family, and I know that Ethan will be perfectly healthy and cheering us on at our games before we know it.
On the field, the team has been doing all we can to get ready for the Big 12 Tournament this weekend. We've done a lot during practice in order to keep our hopes alive of winning a Big 12 title, and although we fell short in regular season play, we're confident that we can still end the season exactly the way we planned. I'm so proud of my teammates for all of their hard work so far this year, but I know there's still a lot more to come. Just like Coach (Mark) Redburn has said all along, this is still our season, and we have to come together as a team to make sure nothing gets in the way of reaching our goal.
On Saturday, MIZZOU Softball will take on the winner of the game between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. Both teams have a tremendous amount of talent, and we know that whatever team we face, we need to bring our best game to the field. Our pitching is among the best in the country, we make great defensive plays, and we're a team known for our bats. Although we've had some recent setbacks, we know that we have the talent, and we're extremely capable of winning championships. Now all we need to do is relax, have fun, and play the game we love and have worked so hard for.
So, if you can't make it to Oklahoma City this weekend, don't forget to watch us on GameTracker at 11am Saturday! Thanks for all your support and Go Tigers!
