Five Tigers Earn All-Big 12 Honors

Mizzou had five members named to the All-Big 12 Conference Baseball Team, which was announced on Tuesday. Highlighting the honors for the Tigers were first-team selections Kyle Gibson and Greg Folgia. Senior Kyle Mach, junior Trevor Coleman and junior Aaron Senne all earned honorable mention.

Gibson has claimed All-Big 12 honors three times in his career, taking honorable mention selections in 2007 and 2008. Coleman also picked up his third all-conference honor, as he was the 2007 Big 12 Freshman of the Year and last year was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team. The selections are the second for Mach, Senne and Folgia.

Gibson leads the Big 12 with 116 strikeouts in 92.2 innings pitched, He is 9-3 on the year and recorded complete games in five of his nine starts in conference games. Folgia has a team-leading .340 batting average, with 12 home runs and 64 RBI.

Mach led the Tigers with a .337 batting average in Big 12 play and currently has a 15-game hitting streak in tact. Senne is hitting .295 with four home runs and 15 doubles, while Coleman drove in 11 runs in league play before an injury forced him to miss the final six Big 12 contests.

J.T. Wise (Oklahoma) and A.J. Morris (Kansas State) highlight the 2009 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Baseball Awards as Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. Kansas' David Narodowski was named the top newcomer, while Garrett Buechele (Oklahoma) won the Freshman of the Year. Brad Hill of Kansas State earned Coach of the Year accolades.

The official All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.
