Folgia Earns Second Big 12 Player of the Week Award

May 11, 2009

Mizzou junior Greg Folgia was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office. He hit four home runs, drove in 10 and hit .500 in the Tigers' four games last week. That included a .545 average in the three-game series against Kansas.

Folgia had at least one hit in all four games and had a slugging percentage of 1.250 on the week. He had a 1.365 slugging percentage against KU.

Last Tuesday, Folgia had a pair of hits against Missouri State and hit his ninth home run of the season. He opened the series against Kansas with his second two-home run game of the season, including an inside the park homer. Folgia put the Tigers on the board in Friday's series opener with a solo shot in the first inning, then drove in three on an inside the park homer in sixth.

Folgia homered for the third-straight game on Saturday, as he hit his team-leading 12th home run of the year. He closed the week by going 3-for-5 with two RBI on Sunday against KU.

It is Folgia's second Player of the Week award this season, also claiming the honor on April 20.
