Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou Basketball senior forwards DeMarre Carroll and Leo Lyons earned a few more postseason accolades this week, as both players were selected to participate in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (P.I.T.), April 8-11 in Portsmouth, Va.
Each year the P.I.T. invites 64 of the top college basketball seniors to participate in the four-day event, which gets them in front of representatives and general managers for all-30 National Basketball Association organizations.
Carroll will play his first game on April 8th, while Lyons will start his tournament run on Thursday, April 9th.
In addition to his invitation to Portsmouth, Carroll learned this week that he was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press.
Carroll led Missouri in both scoring (16.6) and rebounding (7.2) this season, as the Tigers raced to a school record 31-7 mark and a berth into the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight. The Junkyard Dog also led Mizzou in minutes (28.0), field goal percentage (.558) and finished second with 59 steals to cap an outstanding senior season that included First Team All-Big 12 and First Team Academic All-Big 12 recognition, a Big 12 Tournament MVP trophy, a National Association of Basketball Coaches First Team All-District award and a nod on the NCAA Tournament's All-West Region Team.
