Hello Tiger Fans!
This past weekend, we traveled to Columbus, Ohio for our fourth meet of the 2009 season. We came out with our third win of the season and our highest team score yet. We had several stellar performances, scored three event titles, and Shi won the All-Around. Throughout the meet, we focused on one event at a time, reminding ourselves that the numbers we had done in the gym would pay off.
We began the meet on floor, with a confident and relaxed attitude. Al was our lead-off, hitting a solid routine. Shi and A both posted 9.900 routines, and I think the crowd could feel our energy after hitting all six floor routines. We moved onto vault, ready to show off all of the hard work we have been doing in the gym. Mary started us off with a great full, and Al hit a career high of 9.900. After two great rotations, our spirits were up and we were anxious to show off the other two. Bars went well, with several standout routines. Allie had one of her best performances yet, posting a 9.725, and Shi hit a career high of 9.900. We led the meet as we moved onto beam, and although we didn't have our best beam day, Hatch and Brooke both definitely stood out with excellent routines. Achieving our highest team score thus far, we were happy with the meet overall but we can still see a few areas that need to be perfected.
The coaches gave us a much-appreciated day off on Monday so that we could catch up after our weekend of traveling. We would like to send a special thanks to Mark Alnutt and to all of the parents and fans for traveling with us this weekend, and supporting us at the meet. This week, we're gearing up for our face-off with SEMO. Be sure to wear your tiger gear this Friday night to the Hearnes Center at 6:30pm. And don't forget that it's our first annual Tiger Night!
Go Tigers!!!
