Feb. 13, 2009
Advancing to the NCAA Tournament is becoming a habit for the Missouri Baseball team. In 2008, the Tigers were selected to the NCAA postseason for the sixth-straight year. They will begin work towards a seventh trip in a row when they open the 2009 campaign one week from today against Nevada at the Grand Canyon Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.
Baseball America ranked Missouri No. 10 in its 2009 preseason rankings, marking the third time in the last four years MU has earned a top-10 preseason ranking. MU is in the top-25 of all four major collegiate baseball polls.
A strong corps of experienced returners along with a talented group of newcomers once again has the Tigers' sights set high.
Tim Jamieson, who enters his 15th year as MU's head coach, needs just two wins to move into second place on Mizzou's all-time wins list.
A five-part series previewing the 2009 season will begin tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 14) on mutigers.com.
