Mizzou Track Faces Country's Best In Texas

Jan. 29, 2009

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Track and Field squad will get an early sneak peek at the host site of not only the Big 12 Indoor Championships, but the NCAA Indoor Championships in the brand new Gillam Indoor Track and Field Stadium in College Station for the Big 12-SEC Challenge this Friday and Saturday.

The meet will feature a total of six teams, three from each conference, with five of the schools ranked in the top 25, including the 23rd ranked Tiger mens team. The two other schools from the Big 12 are host team Texas A&M and Texas, while the SEC will field LSU, Florida and Mississippi.

Both men and women's teams are coming off a strong showing at the Big 12-Mountain West Conference Challenge last week, as the group had nine winners in 34 events, more than the entire Mountain West and Kansas State had combined. Led by Krishna Lee's two wins and an NCAA provisional-qualifying throw by Chris Rohr in the weight throw, the Tigers look to have that same success this weekend.

Day one of the meet will feature both Pentathlon and Heptathlon events, highlighted by last year's Big 12 champion Nick Adcock. Adcock, Lars Rise and Ben Licklider will all be performing in the Heptathlon events, while Kaela Rorvig and Lauren Begany will participate in the first of the Pentathlon events. Day Two will conclude the Pentathlon and Heptathlon, while all of the running and field events will begin Saturday afternoon.

Live streaming of the event will be available on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m. through the link below.
