Columbia, Mo. - Finding the right fit in the NBA Summer League took a new twist for former Tiger Thomas Gardner. Gardner has been added to the Atlanta Hawks' summer league roster and could participate with the club at the Rocky Mountain Revue, July 18-25 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Gardner was originally named to the Toronto Raptors Summer League squad, but made the move to Atlanta shortly thereafter and has been working out with the club in preparation of the summer league. The roster currently consists of 18 players, but will be pared down before the team travels to Salt Lake City on Thursday afternoon.
Atlanta will play six games in Salt Lake City, beginning Friday (July 18) vs. Dallas.
A native of Portland, Ore., Gardner was a three-year letterwinner for the Tigers and finished his career 33rd on Missouri's all-time scoring list with 1,067 career points. Gardner started 57 career games as a Tiger and ranks No. 4 all-time with 94 three-point makes during the 2005-06 campaign.
Gardner got his first taste of NBA action last season with the Chicago Bulls. Gardner played in four regular-season games with the Bulls, averaging 5.3 points and 1.0 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per game.
