Mizzou senior Jacob Priday has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association Pro-Line National Hitter of the Week, as announced on Tuesday. Priday set a Big 12 Conference record with four home runs in Missouri's 31-12 win over Texas on Friday. Priday is the second Tiger to earn national recognition this season, as junior Aaron Crow was named the National Pitcher of the Week by the NCBWA on March 25. On Monday, Priday was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week.
In Friday's series opener, Priday went 5-for-5 and set the single-game school record with four home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored. The four home runs are the most ever in the Big 12 Conference and are tied for third most in NCAA history. He followed Friday's performance by going 2-for-4 on Saturday, with a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBI.
With the four homers, Priday moves within one of the Missouri school record with 44 for his career. The 11 RBI on the weekend give him 220 for his career, which is just two shy of the Mizzou career mark.
