Buffaloes Top Mizzou, 7-0

Boulder, Colo. - The Colorado Buffaloes (3-6/1-0 Big 12) defeated the University of Missouri women's tennis team (8-5/0-1 Big 12), 7-0, Saturday at the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder, Colo. The match served as the Big 12 opener for each team.
The Buffaloes won each singles match in straight-sets, and took all three doubles points to sweep the Tigers, 7-0.
At No. 1 singles, Monica Milewski topped Mizzou freshman Mallory Weber, 6-1, 6-3. CU's Camila Belassi beat Jessica Giuggioli, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, and Gleisy Torres Torres defeated Chrissy Svetlic at No. 3, 6-0, 6-4.
Maureen Modesto, this week's Varsity M Association Female Student-Athlete of the Week, fell to CU's Veera Nurmi, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 4. Kaitlyn Ritchie and Sofia Ayala lost at No. 5 and 6, respectively.
The Buffaloes won all three doubles matches, as well. At No. 1, Milewski and Belassi beat Weber and Svetlic, 8-3. Melisa Esposito and Franziska Jendrian beat Giuggioli and Ritchie at No. 2, 8-5, and Torres Torres and Probert beat Kaitlin Dunham and Ayala at No. 3.
The Tigers will return home to prepare for two important conference matches against No. 67 Kansas State and Kansas. Mizzou hosts K-State Friday (March 14) at noon and KU Sunday (March 16) also at noon. Admission to all Mizzou home matches is free, and Tiger fans are encouraged to attend.
