Mizzou Suffers 73-57 Loss at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team suffered a 73-57 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday night in Lincoln, Neb. During the contest junior Alyssa Hollins set both the career and single-season Missouri 3-point field goal records.
Mizzou falls to 8-17 overall and 1-11 in Big 12 play while the Huskers improve to 18-8 and 7-5.
With her four 3-pointers, Hollins now stands atop the career and single-season records with 144 and 68, respectively, after passing Amanda Lassister's single-season mark of 65 and Carlynn Savant's record of 142.
Down 10-3 with 15:33 on the clock, Hollins made her second 3-pointer of the game to set a new Mizzou single-season record with 66 and tie the career record at 142. Nebraska built a 17-10 advantage but Hollins hit another three at the 9:19 mark to set the all-time Tiger 3-point field goal record.
Hollins' 3-pointer ignited an 8-0 Missouri run, when sophomore Amanda Hanneman nailed a three and sophomore Toy Richbow made a baseline jumper hit give the Tigers an 18-17 lead with 8:29 left in the first half.
The teams went back and forth over the next few minutes until the Huskers broke a 27-27 tie with a basket from Kelsey Griffin and ended the half on a 6-0 run as the Tigers entered the break down 33-27.
Nebraska came out on fire in the second half, opening the frame with an 18-8 run over the first 6:13 for a 51-35 Cornhusker lead. Missouri was never able to get back within single-digits and fell 73-57.
Hollins led Mizzou with 22 points and six rebounds while sophomore Jessra Johnson added 10.
The Tigers return to Mizzou Arena for a two-game home stand, kicked off with a contest against Border Showdown foe Kansas on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1:30 p.m. Mizzou will then close out the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 27 with a 6:30 p.m. game with Iowa State.
