COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 16 University of Missouri soccer team gave up two goals in the final 15 minutes of action as No. 10 Texas earned a 2-1 victory over Mizzou on a windy Sunday afternoon at Walton Stadium. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 12-5-0 overall and 6-3-0 in Big 12 Conference action while the Longhorns improve to 12-2-3 and 5-2-2.

Missouri and Texas came on strong to start the contest, with neither team gaining control. The defenses held tough, however, as the teams could not find the back of the net. Both squads notched seven shots in the first half but entered the break scoreless at 0-0.

Junior Kristin Andrighetto came out firing to start the second half with two shots within the first three minutes, both of which were saved by Texas goalkeeper Dianna Pfenninger. The forward finally broke through in the 57th minute to put the Tigers on top 1-0.

Sophomore Alysha Bonnick gathered a loose ball in the box and passes off to Andrighetto, who one-timed a low shot past Pfenninger. The goal was the seventh of the year for Andrighetto to tie Bonnick for the team lead.

After a number of missed scoring opportunities for the Tigers in the following minutes, Texas broke through to tie the game a 1-1 in the 77th minute. Longhorn Lucy Keith fed Kasey Moore, who ripped a rope from the left edge of the box, past diving Tiger goalie Tasha Dittamore and into the far post netting.

With less than seven minutes left in regulation, the Longhorns struck again. Courtney Goodson sent a perfect cross at the goal that Keith headed into the net from one-yard out for a 2-1 Texas lead.

Missouri poured on the pressure in the final minutes of the contest, keeping play in the Texas defensive end. Andrighetto had an opportunity to tie the game in the 85th minute on a header from the far post but Pfenninger made the stop.

The Tigers outshot Texas 20-15, including an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal.

Dittamore made four saves in goal for Missouri.

Mizzou closes out the regular season with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Border Showdown rival Kansas on Friday, Oct. 31. The Tigers will then travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the Big 12 Championship, with first round action starting on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
