COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team hosted the second annual Sixth Stripe Club Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 19 at A.L. Gustin Golf Course. The event was put together by the Sixth Stripe Club, Mizzou's official booster club.
The day began with welcomes from Special Assistant to the Athletics Director Gary Link and MU Head Coach Cindy Stein. The 26 teams then hit the course, which featured prizes for longest drives, closest to the pin on three holes and cash prizes for the top three teams. Additionally, Stein and junior Amanda Hanneman, an all-state golfer in high school, aided golfers with their putting and all Tiger players were on hand to escort attendees and help carry bags.
A silent auction was held throughout the day, which included items such as autographed items from Mizzou teams and coaches, with all items auctioned off. The event concluded with a barbeque provided by Hoss's Market & Rotisserie, where a basketball signed by the 2008-09 Missouri women's basketball team and coolers, among other items, were raffled off. All proceeds raised from the day will go toward the Mizzou women's basketball program.
