Kansas City, Mo. - Missouri Head Coach Mike Anderson, along with former Tiger sideline boss and National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Famer Norm Stewart will participate in the Coaches vs. Cancer Season Tip-off Cocktail Reception on Oct. 7 at the College Basketball Experience in downtown Kansas City.
The Coaches vs. Cancer reception is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and has set a fundraising goal of $75,000 to support the Society's mission of "eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service".
The event is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. with a VIP gathering and general admission entry begins at 5:30 p.m. Stewart, the founder of Coaches vs. Cancer, will serve as the event's emcee and presentations by Coach Anderson and head coaches from Kansas State, Kansas and UMKC will begin at 6:15 p.m.
The event will also feature a silent auction, including gifts and memorabilia from Mizzou, Kansas State, Kansas and UMKC.
Part of the new Sprint Center and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, the College Basketball Experience is a 41,000 square foot facility that features interactive games and multimedia highlighting the rich history of college basketball.
