Senior swimmer Ted Harris (Greenville, Ill.) qualified for the Olympic Team Trials in the 100-meter breaststroke this past Saturday at the Super Soaker Classic, held in Seattle, Wash.
Harris, swimming for King's Aquatics, finished the race in 1:04.63. He just edged out the qualifying time of 1:04.69, while also taking third-place in the event. His finish is a new personal best, dropping his old record by 1.4 seconds to make the cut.
"We are proud of Ted and all of the hard work he has put in to achieve this goal," said Head Coach Brian Hoffer. "He has come such a long way as an athlete and person and we are very happy for him."
Harris will now head to the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in Omaha, Neb., where he will be joined by fellow teammate senior Lori Halvorson (Tulsa, Okla.) and incoming freshman Lisa Nathanson (Des Moines, Iowa), in hopes of earning a spot on the Olympic squad. The event begins June 29th and runs through July 6th.
