Jace Long, who will join the Mizzou men's golf team next fall, won the Missouri State Class 2 Boys Golf Championship this week at Deer Lake Golf Course in Springfield, Mo. Long carded rounds of 71 and 73 for a two-round total of 144, which was two shots ahead of second place.
Long, a senior at Dixon High School signed a National Letter of Intent in November to join the Tigers. He has a very impressive junior golf record to Missouri. In the past year, he has claimed tournament titles at the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Championships and the AJGA Houchens Open, along with a second place finish in the AJGA Midwest Championship.
Also this week, Long played in the U.S. Open Local Qualifying Tournament at the Golf Club at Creekmoor in Rayomre, Mo. and qualified for the sectional round of U.S. Open qualifying.
