Tigers Take on Final Non-Conference Opponent of the Season

April 9, 2008

Looking to rebound from back-to-back losses against seventh-ranked Oklahoma, the Missouri softball team will take on its final non-conference opponent of the regular season, Saint Louis University, Wednesday, April 9, in a doubleheader set to begin at 4:30 p.m. (CT) at the Biliken Sports Center. The Tigers are 33-12 on the season and recorded two wins over Saint Louis, 10-0 in six innings and 6-0, Feb. 27 in the Dan Devine Indoor Facility on the University of Missouri campus. Game two of the evening series is slated for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) first pitch.

Freshman centerfielder Rhea Taylor (Buford, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) extended her national steals lead after going three-for-three on the weekend. Now with 41 steals in 44 attempts, the leadoff batter leads the Tigers with a .391 batting average.

Missouri owns an 8-2 record in midweek games this year, including a doubleheader sweep over Saint Louis earlier in the year. The two midweek losses have come at the hands of Bradley and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Junior pitcher Stacy Delaney (Freeland, Mich./University of Michigan) will look to build on an impressive showing from this past weekend. After allowing three runs early in Missouri's game against OU, she held the Sooners scoreless for the last three innings she pitched.

Saint Louis is coming off of a weekend which saw them sweep both St. Joseph's and Temple. The four game winning streak is the longest for the Billikens this year. They will look to pitchers Lorena Floccari and Stacy Gillette to continue the win streak in games against Missouri. Junior Rachel Heet leads the St. Louis offense with a .336 average and 22 RBI.

Missouri returns home this weekend to continue conference play against Texas Tech.
