Columbia, Mo. -Missouri senior Amanda Renth (Mascoutah, Ill.) earned Big 12 Softball Player of the Week honors as announced today by the Conference office. This marks Renth's second career Big 12 Player of the Week accolade and Missouri's fifth weekly honor of the 2008 campaign.
Renth helped the Tigers to a 3-0 record that included back-to-back wins over Iowa State and an 8-3 victory over Baylor last week. The senior hit at a .700 clip, going 7-for-10 from the plate with a 1.600 slugging percentage. Renth hit two home runs to tie the Missouri single-season home run record at 17, previously set by teammate Micalea Minner in 2005, and set a personal career high. Credited with five RBI, she had a .750 on-base percentage, the best of her Tiger teammates. Three of the senior's seven hits were doubles. In the field, Renth recorded 28 putouts and two assists for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
The Tiger first baseman joins teammates Rhea Taylor (Buford, Ga.), a two-time Big 12 Player of the Week, as well as senior Jen Bruck (St. Peters, Mo.) and junior Lindsey Ubrun (Riverside, Calif.) as Missouri players recognized for their weekly accomplishments. Missouri's five Player of the Week honors ties a program-high previously set in 1994.
Missouri will take on Nebraska in its final regular season series. First pitch of game one is set for 3:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday, May 3 at Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln, Neb.
