Irving, Texas - University of Missouri women's tennis player Chrissy Svetlic (Kansas City, Mo./Northern Illinois University) has been selected to the 2008 Academic All-Big 12 Tennis Team. This is her first career Big 12 academic honor.
The Mizzou senior joined the Tigers in the spring of 2006 after transferring from Northern Illinois University. She is 42-40 in singles action, three wins short of 15th place on Mizzou's all-time singles wins list. Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the women had 27 first team recipients and nine student-athletes on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and players on the second team have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests.
