Missouri Cheer Squad Finishes Eighth at National Competition

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri Cheer Squad turned in an impressive performance last weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla., where they finished eighth at the Largest Cheer Competition, sponsored by the National Cheerleaders Association College.

The squad, coached by Suzy Thompson, placed eighth in the Small Coed Division, behind Louisville (first), SMU (second), Oklahoma State (third), Clemson (fourth), Texas-Arlington (fifth), Arkansas-Little Rock (sixth) and Illinois-Chicago (seventh).

"The level of competition at this yeas event was amazing," Thompson said. "Our kids performed a great routine and represented the University and our state to perfection!"

The top-10 finish marks the seventh consecutive year that Thompson's squad has turned in a top-10 showing at nationals. The squad also finished eighth at the competition last year.

Members of Mizzou's Cheer Squad include: Caitlin Germeroth, Josh Guyette, Robert Hanley, Arin Hennessey, Jacob Kunce, Ashley McGee, Lindsay Oncken, Shannon Ortega, Jamie Prashek, Jenna Quick, Britton Snyder, Kaitlyn Tribble, Ona Whelove, Terri Winkler and Shannon Wylie.
