NCAA Action Gets Underway for Melnychuk

March 20, 2008

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mizzou junior Kendra Melnychuk completed her first day of action at the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday with a 24th-place finish on the 1-meter board. The Tiger standout tallied 252.45 points in her top-25 showing.

Melnychuk received scores of 43.20 and 44.20 for her first two dives, but then trailed off a bit in her final four dives (42.90, 41.40, 42.00, 38.75) to finish with a score of 252.45. The Canadian, who has traditionally been stronger as she makes her way up the diving tower, looks to fare better in Friday's 3-meter diving competition.

Day two diving action in Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion gets underway with 3-meter diving prelims at 12:30 p.m. CST. Live results will be available on mutigers.com.
