COLUMBIA, Mo. - The 20th-ranked Missouri women's swimming and diving team (10-1, 2-1 Big 12) welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Mizzou Aquatics Center, Saturday, on `Senior Day.' Five seniors will be honored prior to the meet, which is set to get underway at 11 a.m. Fans unable to catch Saturday's action in person can view live results at mutigers.com.
Last Time Out
The Tigers had no problem taking care of conference neighbor-to-the-north Iowa State on Saturday. The team won 11 of 14 non-exhibition events, including all but one of the first 10, to earn their 10th overall win of the season and their second in conference action. The Tigers' win also marks their 13th-straight over ISU.
Scouting the Hawkeyes
The Cyclones' in-state rival, Iowa, travels to Columbia riding a 4-5 overall dual meet record and a 2-2 mark in Big Ten action. The Hawkeyes opened the season with a lopsided 197-102 loss at Wisconsin and returned home a week later to suffer their second consecutive loss at the hands of Minnesota by a score of 178-122. All was better a week later when the team got the better of Michigan State by a score of 178-122. The Hawkeyes stumbled once again to open the month of November with a 170-130 road loss to Nebraska, but bounced back a week later with a close 139-123 victory over Truman State. The team closed out first semester action with a tough 152-148 loss to Iowa State.
After compiling a 2-5 record in the fall, the Iowa women have rung in the New Year with a pair of home wins. The Hawkeyes defeated Western Illinois by a score of 144-71 on Friday, and followed that up with a 179-120 victory over Big Ten foe Illinois a day later.
All-Time Series
The Tigers hold a 4-3 all-time series edge over the Hawkeyes. The teams last met a year ago in the Mizzou Dual Challenge, with the Tigers roaring to victory by a score of 115-33. Iowa's last win against the women of Mizzou came in 2001.
Farewell Seniors
This weekend's meet will mark the final home dual for five Tiger seniors, including Jill Bastien, Katie Gates, Arica Jacinto, Sarah Menefee and Taye Patterson. To celebrate all they have done for the program over the past four years, the team will hold a short ceremony in their honor prior to the meet.
