Mizzou Men Host Iowa on `Senior Day'

Jan. 24, 2008

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The 20th-ranked Missouri men's swimming and diving team (9-2, 1-0 Big 12) welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Mizzou Aquatics Center, Saturday, on `Senior Day.' Six seniors will be honored prior to the meet, which is set to get underway at 11 a.m. Fans unable to catch Saturday's action in person can view live results at mutigers.com.

Last Time Out

The men of Mizzou are coming off a successful two-day trip to Pittsburgh, Pa., this past week. The Tigers jumped into the pool with then-No. 16 Penn State, Pitt, Maryland and Villanova, and left the water with three dual wins. They were edged by a tough Nittany Lion squad by a score of 191-159, but won comfortably against the trio of other teams. Redshirt freshman Cameron Sellers earned two wins on the weekend (200 and 500 free), while sophomore Dylan Lynn brought home a win in the 400 IM.

Scouting the Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes make their way southward this weekend riding a 3-3 dual meet record, with each of their three losses coming in conference action. The team opened up the season with a pair of losses to Wisconsin (175-125) and Minnesota (180.5-113.5), but won a 1-point nail-biter against Michigan State by a score of 150.5-149.5 to close out the month of October. After falling to perennial power Purdue by a count of 173.5-122.5, the men ended their first semester of action with a 2-3 record after an easy 187-75 triumph over Truman State. The Hawkeyes opened up 2008 action with a 159-63 routing of Western Illinois at home, Friday.

All-Time Series

The Iowa men hold the edge in the all-time series with Mizzou with a 6-2 series record. The Tigers got the best of the Hawkeyes in their last matchup, however, when they cruised to a 94-33 victory in last season's Mizzou Dual Challenge. Iowa has not knocked off Mizzou in a dual setting since 2004.

Farewell Seniors

This weekend's meet will mark the final home dual for six Tiger seniors, including Thomas Baumann, David Boyko, Travis Floyd, Lex Howard, Brandon Lee and Joe Wilson. To celebrate all they have done for the program over the past four years, the team will hold a short ceremony in their honor prior to the meet.
