General Game Notes
- With the win, Louisville and Missouri will meet in a winner-take-all contest Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. The winner will advance to NCAA Super Regional action.
- Tonight's official game attendance was 3,457, the third largest crowd in Taylor Stadium history. Each of the Taylor Stadium's top-three attendance figures came this weekend at the NCAA Regional. Over the three days, the NCAA Regional has attracted 13,217 total fans.
- In addition to the 3,457 fans watching from Taylor Stadium, a record 2,223 fans saw the end of tonight's game on mutigers.com's live stream. Technically, you could say that 5,680 fans saw tonight's contest, an increase of the 4,969 that combined to watch last night's game both at Taylor Stadium and on mutigers.com.
Louisville Game Notes
- Louisville advances to its first-ever NCAA Regional Championship Game. Entering this weekend's NCAA Regional, the Cardinals had never won an NCAA Regional game, but is just one win away from advancing to the Super Regional. Overall, the Cardinals are 3-1 in the Columbia Regional.
- Logan Johnson's third-inning RBI was the 159th of his career, which ranks No. 9 in school history.
- Chris Dominguez hit his second home run of the NCAA Regional in the top of the eighth inning to give Louisville a 4-2 lead. The two-run blast was his ninth of the season.
- Louisville relief pitcher Kyle Hollender earned his fourth win of the season in 2.2 innings of work. The lefty allowed just one hit, a solo home run to lead off the ninth, and struck out three Tigers to improve to 4-1 on the year.
Missouri Game Notes
- Missouri had its NCAA Regional win streak snapped at six tonight. After losing their opening game of the Malibu Regional in 2006, the Tigers rallied to win four consecutive games. Mizzou started this season's regional 2-0 before tonight's 4-3 loss.
- Missouri fell to 11-2 in one-run games. The Tigers had won seven consecutive one-run games before tonight's 4-3 defeat.
- Missouri starter Ian Berger held Louisville without a first-inning hit. The Cardinals had enjoyed at least one first-inning hit in each of their four NCAA Regional games. The Cardinals also failed to reach double figures in hits for the first time in the Columbia Regional.
- The 6.0-plus innings of work by Ian Berger tied a career high. Berger threw 6.0 innings on April 17 at Missouri State and 6.0 innings at Oklahoma State on May 20. Berger finished the game allowing just two runs (one earned), while striking out five. The five "K's" by Berger tied a career high.
- Aaron Senne hit his sixth home run of the year to open the game's scoring. The solo shot was his third extra base hit of the Columbia Regional. Senne had a triple vs. Kent State on Friday and a double vs. Louisville on Saturday. Senne added his fourth extra-base knock of the series in the bottom of the seventh when Louisville left fielder Isaiah Howes lost the ball in the Taylor Stadium lights.
- Jacob Priday also homered for the Tigers, leading off the ninth inning with a solo shot to center. Priday now has three home runs in NCAA Regional action, with each coming against the Cardinals. Priday now leads the Columbia Regional with three home runs.
- With the two home runs, Mizzou now has six in the NCAA Regional.
- Although he only got credit for one hit-by-pitch, Brock Bond took his team-leading 25th HBP on the year. The 25 HBPs extends his own single-season record.
