
Tigers Shutout in Series Opener With Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan.-- - Mizzou was shutout for the first time since last April, falling to Kansas State by a score of 12-0 on Friday in the opener of a three-game series in Manhattan, Kan.
On a day where the wind chill dipped into the lower 20s by the end of the game, the Tigers were unable to put any runs on the board, despite getting runners on base in five of the first six innings. The last time the Tigers were shutout was a 4-0 loss to Oklahoma State on April 22, 2006.
Kansas State put together a two-out rally with in the bottom of the third inning, with three-straight hits to plate the first two runs of the game. Derek Bunker put the Wildcats on the board with a solo home run, his first of the season. Jordan Cruz followed with a single and scored on a double by Drew Biery.
KSU added two more runs in the fourth, getting four hits including an RBI double by Eli Rumler and a single by Bunker to drive in a run for his second RBI in as many innings. The Wildcats would score again in the fifth as two errors by Missouri to start the inning led to an unearned run before adding three runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth.
Bunker finished with five hits and four RBI for Kansas State on Friday.
Mizzou and Kansas State are now tied with 4-3 records in Big 12 Conference play, as the Tigers fall to 22-9 overall on the year, while the Wildcats move to 22-8.
