
Nebraska Ends Tigers' Winning Streak

LINCOLN, Neb.-- - A 12-run sixth inning for Nebraska put a quick end to Mizzou's 14-game winning streak as the Tigers fell 16-1 on Sunday in Lincoln in seven innings, as the conference's 10-run rule was in effect.
Nebraska built a 4-0 lead after five inning before the Tigers were able to get on the board when freshman Trevor Coleman singled to drive in junior Brock Bond.
The Huskers then put up 12 runs in the sixth inning, getting three home runs including a grand slam by Jeff Tezak. Later in the inning Tezak added a two-run double to make it a six-RBI inning for him. The first eight batters to the plate for Nebraska in the sixth all reached safely as the Cornhuskers send 16 batters to the plate in the inning.
Missouri had won 14-straight games prior to Sunday's loss. The 14-game winning streak was the longest for Missouri since it won 15-straight games in 2005. The Tigers fall to 20-6 on the year and are 2-1 in the Big 12 Conference, while Nebraska is now 13-9 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
Missouri will remain in the state of Nebraska, as it will face Creighton on Tuesday afternoon in Omaha. Next weekend, the Tigers will return to Taylor Stadium to take on Kansas in the first home conference series of the year. The three-game set will get underway at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
