MIAMI, Fla.-- - Missouri put up double-digit runs for the second time in as many games, defeating Florida International 15-7 on Saturday in Miami to move to 2-0 on the season. The Tigers trailed by four after six innings, but scored 13 runs in the next three innings to take control of the game.
Sophomore Ryan Lollis' grand slam in the top of the seventh inning capped a five-run seventh for the Tigers as Mizzou gained its first lead of the day.
The Tigers entered the seventh inning trailing 6-2, but the first six batters to the plate in the top of the inning reached safely. Senior John McKee drove in the first run of the seventh with a bases-loaded single to score sophomore Kyle Mach.
With the bases still loaded, Lollis sent a shot over the right field wall to clear the bases. The homer was the second of the day, as junior Jacob Priday put the Tigers on the board with a solo shot in the top of the fourth inning.
Mizzou carried the momentum into the eighth inning, recording a six-run eighth to open up a seven-run lead. Lollis had another RBI hit in the eighth, driving in his sixth run of the game on a single through the right side and junior Dan Pietroburgo had a pair of singles in the frame.
Frey and Bond led off the top of the ninth inning with back-to-back triples and each would score in the inning.
Lollis finished 2-for-4 with six RBI and two runs scored. Frey was 3-for-5 and scored four times.
"We made some good adjustments at the plate and took some great swings today, "Head Coach Tim Jamieson said. "Our focus really sharpened when it needed to, with runners on and in the bases loaded situations. Another good thing was our bullpen putting up some zeros to allow us to comeback."
Missouri was hitless through 3.1 innings until Priday connected on his home run in the top of the fourth, putting the Tigers on the board. The homer was Priday's first hit of the 2007 season and was his 21st career home run.
