Both Tiger Squads in Nation's Top-20 for First Time Ever

Dec. 4, 2007

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams are both ranked in the top-20 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 Poll for the first time ever. The Tiger men (5-1, 1-0 Big 12) moved up one spot to No. 19 in the latest poll to earn their highest ever ranking, while the Mizzou women (7-1, 1-1 Big 12) remained at No. 18.

The men are 5-1 on the season now and have faced three teams currently ranked in the CSCAA Top 25. The team fell to No. 7 Indiana in its season opener and was edged by 12th-ranked Purdue for the Boilermaker Invitational title last month. The Tigers knocked off conference rival and 17th-ranked Texas A&M on Oct. 18.

The Tiger women are 7-1 on the season and have faced three top-25 teams themselves. They defeated defending Big Ten champion and No. 22 Indiana to open the 2007-08 season and took down No. 23 Virginia Tech in November's Mizzou Dual Challenge. The Tigers fell to No. 6 Texas A&M in October.

Both Tiger teams will break for the rest of the academic semester and return to action in 2008. The Mizzou women take on Arkansas and Missouri State on Jan. 12 at the Mizzou Aquatics Center and the men travel to Pittsburgh, Pa., for a dual with Pittsburgh and Maryland, Jan. 18-19.
