Mizzou Plans to Pack the `Zou for Senior Day

Nov. 5, 2007

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- - Following the Mizzou football team's dominating 55-10 win over Colorado last Saturday, the University of Missouri Department of Athletics is encouraging fans to make plans to be in Columbia for the final home game of the 2007 season this Saturday against Texas A&M.

Kickoff for Mizzou's game against the Aggies is 11:30 a.m. at Faurot Field. Saturday is Senior Day, as the senior class of 2007, which includes Martin Rucker, Will Franklin, Lorenzo Williams, Tony Temple and Pig Brown will be honored prior to the game. The matchup is also the annual Blackout game in which all fans are encouraged to wear black. The official Blackout T-Shirts are available at the Tiger Team Store.

The Department of Athletics has some special ticket offers available in hopes of filling Faurot Field this weekend. Reserved-seating tickets for the south endzone are available for just $30, nearly half off the regular ticket price. Along with that offer, General Admission Hill tickets for Saturday's game, which are usually not sold until gameday, have been made available now and can be purchased for only $25.

A limited number of tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Mizzou Arena Ticket Office or by calling 1-800-CAT-PAWS (884-PAWS in Columbia). They can also be ordered online at mutigers.com. The deadline for taking advantage special south endzone ticket offer is 5 p.m. CT on Thursday, Nov. 8.

MU is averaging 59,290 fans through the first five home games of the season. To reach an average of 60,000 for the year, a crowd of 63,552 would be needed on Saturday. The last time Missouri averaged 60,000 for a season was in 1981 (61,787). Since then, this year's current average has only been surpassed in 2004 (59,571).

Fans are also reminded that they can help welcome the team to the stadium at Tiger Walk, which will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the pedestrian bridge on the west side of the stadium.

The Tigers have moved up to No. 6 in the latest BCS standings after the win over Colorado last weekend improved them to 8-1 on the season. It is the first time Mizzou has been 8-1 since 1969. Missouri has moved up to No. 7 in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' polls, marking MU's highest ranking since early in the 1979 season.
