Columbia, Mo. - After receiving the fourth at-large bid in four years for a Tiger runner, Missouri sophomore Dan Hedgecock (St. Louis, Mo.) finished 125th at the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships. Hedgecock finished the race in 31:21.2. The race was Hedgecock's first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
Hedgecock is the fourth Tiger runner in the last four years to compete at the event. Last year, Tim Ross finished 126th, while Matt Noonan finished 90th overall in 2005.
Hedgecock, only a sophomore, finishes the season with plenty to build on heading into his junior season. Hedgecock earned All-Midwest Region honors and just missed All-Big 12 honors by three spots at the race in Lubbock, Texas.
The race was won by the University of Oregon, while Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma State finished third, while Colorado finished seventh overall. Josh McDougal of Liberty claimed the individual title, running the 10K race in 29:22.4.
With Hedgecock's performance at the NCAA Championships, the 2007 Cross Country season comes to a close, leaving a bright future for head coach Jared Wilmes and company. Stay tuned to www.mutigers.com for all of the latest Tiger cross country news.
