No. 23 Tigers Travel to Purdue Invitational

Nov. 14, 2007

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 23 Missouri men's swimming and diving team (5-1, 1-0 Big 12) travels to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in the Purdue Invitational this Friday through Sunday. Day one action opens Friday at 10 a.m. with finals set to begin at 6 p.m. at the Boilermakers' Holloway Pool. Fans can stay updated on all the latest action with live results posted on purduesports.com. Those attending the event can also take part in the mass penny war between the participating schools taking place alongside the invite, which will benefit Boilermaker Athletics' yearlong cancer benefit.

The Last Go-around

The Tigers last visited West Lafayette for Purdue's annual invite in 2005-06. The men will look to better their fifth-place showing that season, but will face stiff competition in No. 6 Florida, Louisville, Missouri State, No. 13 Purdue and Southern Illinois.

Among the Nation's Best

On Nov. 7, after a one-year hiatus from the national rankings, the Tigers returned to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 with a No. 23 ranking. The Tigers' move from "Others Receiving Votes" into the Top 25 represented the largest move upward of any team in the rankings.

Cernansky is Greight

Sophomore Martin Cernansky continued his season's winning ways during the Mizzou Dual Challenge held earlier this month. The Austrian raced to five victories on the weekend, bringing his 2007-08 total to eight.

Hat Trick

Senior Travis Floyd enjoyed a successful weekend in the pool as well. The Midland, Texas native collected a win during each of the meet's three days. Two of his three wins came in the 200 back.

Board Out of His Mind

Tiger newcomer Dante Jones lit it up in the diving well during the weekend. The Columbia, Mo. native captured a hat trick of his own, all three wins coming on the 1-meter board.

Double It

Recording a pair of first-place finishes on the weekend was junior Matt Dahlke. Both of the Iowan's wins came in the 200 free.
