MANHATTAN, Kan. - Heavy rain forced the cancellation of the final round of the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on Tuesday. Therefore, the final results were based off the 36-holes played on Monday, meaning Mizzou sophomore Julia Potter took home the individual championship.
Potter had rounds of 70 and 73 on Monday and was the only golfer in the field under par with her 1-under par score. She is the first Tiger to claim an individual title since Maria Ohlsson won the Lady Northern Classic in the Fall of 2004.
Missouri finished second in the team standings with a two-round total of 602, two shots behind first-place Kansas.
Junior Chelsea Schriewer tied for seventh place with a 149 (76-73) score, while sophomore Michelle Morgan (153) tied for 19th and senior Madde Augustsson (157) finished in a tie for 31st spot.
Sophomore Madison Marcolla took 46th place and sophomore Lindsey Haupt was 69th.
Next week the Tigers will host the 1st Annual Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia. The first two rounds will be played starting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday with the final round scheduled for Tuesday.
