
Tigers Send Five to ITA Central Regionals

Five University of Missouri women's tennis players will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regionals, which start Wednesday (Oct. 17) on the campus of the University of Tulsa. Mizzou's Mallory Weber, Maureen Modesto, Kaitlyn Ritchie, Chrissy Svetlic and Raquel Wagner will each play in singles draws, while duos Sveltic and Weber and Wagner and Modesto will team up in doubles play.

Mizzou Invitational
The Tigers are coming off a successful Mizzou Invitational, where Svetlic and Weber claimed the Doubles Championship, and Svetlic won the `B' Singles Draw Championship. Kaitlin Dunham and Ritchie won the `B' Doubles Championship and Sofia Ayala won the `C' Draw Singles Championship.
Weber off to a Good Start
Weber, a freshman from Belleville, Ill., has had a great fall season in doubles draws, winning three tournament championships; the Mizzou Invitational, Drake Invitational and Maryland Invitational with two different Tiger partners, Svetlic (Mizzou and Maryland) and Ritchie (Drake). She won the `A' Singles Flight Championship at the Drake Invitational and also played in the `A' draws the Maryland and Mizzou tournaments.
Ritchie Also Starting Well
Ritchie, a newcomer from Bartlesville, Okla., also has played well in the fall. She teamed up with Weber to win the Drake Invitational Doubles Championship. She played with Modesto in the Maryland Invitational, winning two matches in the `B' flight. She then played with Kaitlin Dunham at the Mizzou Invitational, winning the `B' Flight Championship. She also got past the first round in the `A' singles draws of the Drake and Mizzou tournaments, and the `B' draws of the Maryland Invitational.
Singles Success
Modesto, a freshman from Highland, Ind., has had a productive fall, which included taking the `B' Flight Singles Championship at the Drake Invitational and reaching the finals of the `B' Draw at the Mizzou Invitational.
Veteran Leaders Svetlic and Wagner
Svetlic, a senior from Kansas City, Mo., led the team with 19 wins last year, and she also posted 17 doubles victories, which tied her for third on last year's team with Wagner. She teamed up with Weber to take the Mizzou and Maryland Invitational doubles titles. She also performed well in singles play at the Mizzou tournament, defeating Modesto in the finals of the `B' draw to take the title.
In Wagner's first season after coming to Mizzou, she finished with the second-most singles wins on the team, 18, including a team-high five Big 12 victories. She advanced to the second round in the Drake Invitational `B' Draw, she won two matches in the `B' Draw of the Mizzou tournament and two in the `D' Draw of the Maryland Invitational. She played with Modesto in the Mizzou Invitational, as the duo advanced to the second round of the `A' draw.

The singles finalists and doubles champions from each regional earn berths into the National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by The Ohio State University Nov. 1-4.
