Momentum continues to build for the University of Missouri Basketball program. Following an 18-12 mark in his first season as head coach, Mike Anderson welcomed back four starters and 11 lettermen as he ushered in the 2007-08 campaign with the second annual Mizzou Madness on Friday. The event featured scrimmages by both the Tiger men's and women's squads and was capped with a 24-17 win by the Mizzou Men's Black squad in a 12-minute exhibition.

The Tiger men's and women's teams treated the crowed to an array of games and contests at the 9 p.m. event, before capping the evening with a pair of scrimmages by both programs.

Aired live in Kansas City on Metro Sports, the Mizzou men's program capped the evening with a 12-minute rehearsal, culminating in that 24-17 win for the Mizzou Black squad of Keon Lawrence, Stefhon Hannah, Leo Lyons, Nick Berardini, Zaire Taylor, Marshall Brown and Darryl Butterfield.

Brown led the Black with six points on 3-of-5 shooting, while chipping in two boards and a blocked shot. Lawrence and Butterfield each added five points, while Hannah led all performers with four assists.

DeMarre Carroll, the Big 12's Preseason Newcomer of the Year, led the Tiger Gold Team with six points, a game-high eight rebounds and three steals. The 6-foot-8, 225 pound forward seemed to dominate the offensive glass, as five of his caroms led to second-chance opportunities. Prorating his rebounds over an entire 40 minutes, Carroll would have grabbed a ridiculous 27 boards for the game.

Sophomore J.T. Tiller added five points, while Jason Horton, Michael Anderson, Jr., and Vaidotas Volkus added two points apiece. Volkus also chipped in four boards.

Mizzou Basketball returns to action on Oct. 30 for the annual Black & Gold Game at Mizzou Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and admission is just $5, with proceeds going to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer and the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia. Doors to the Black & Gold Game open at 6 p.m. and selected Tigers will be on hand to sign autographs.
