Columbia, Mo. - Former University of Missouri hardwood standouts Thomas Gardner (Chicago Bulls) and Kareem Rush (Indiana Pacers) led their clubs to victories in Wednesday's NBA Summer League action.
Gardner scored a summer league high 12 points, while adding a board, two assists and a steal in Chicago's 77-66 win over Miami on Wednesday evening. Gardner struggled from the field hitting just 3-of-11 shots, but was a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line in just under 23 minutes of action.
Through three games, Gardner is averaging 8.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists for the Bulls, who improved to 2-1 in summer league competition.
Indiana's Rush continued his stellar play in a 90-65 win over the New Jersey Nets. Rush earned the start at forward for the Pacers, playing 24 minutes and dropping in 16 points. Rush continued his hot shooting by burying 6-of-10 shots, including 3-of-4 three-pointers. The Kansas City native added four boards and two dimes.
For the summer, Rush is averaging 18.0 points in two games and is a remarkable 8-of-10 from beyond the arc.
