Colorado vs. Missouri Game Notes

2/28/07

Games Notes...

This game marks the 19th regular season home game of the season for the Missouri Tigers. This ties the previous record set in the 2004-2005 season when the Tigers played 19 games at Mizzou Arena.

With an attendance of 9,141 at Mizzou Arena, the Big 12 Conference surpassed 2 million fans for the first time in league history.

With Missouri's win, Missouri improves to 34-2 vs. Colorado at home over the past 36 years.

Coach Mike Anderson earned his 18th victory in his inaugural season at Mizzou, this win ties him with most wins by a first-year coach at Mizzou. Quin Snyder set the win mark of 18 wins by a rookie Mizzou coach in the 1999-2000 season.

Missouri is now 3-0 in games on Senior Night at Mizzou Arena.

Team Notes...

By inserting senior Marcus Watkins into the starting lineup, it marked the sixth different lineup Coach Mike Anderson has used this season.

After allowing the Colorado Buffaloes to score the first two points of the game, the Tigers went on a 9-0 run and led the rest of the game.

Missouri, as a team, made a season-high 10 three-pointers in the first half. Mizzou led Colorado 52-38 at the half, and of the 52 points, 30 came via three-pointers as they were 10-20 from beyond the arc.

Missouri eclipsed 50-plus points in the first half for the second time this season.

The 91 points scored by Missouri was the third highest scoring output this season. Missouri made 30 field goals and had assists on 22 of those buckets.

Missouri got plenty of help from its bench outscoring the Buffaloes 39-26. Leading the way was Keon Lawrence with 13 and Jason Horton with six.

Tiger Tidbits...

Lone senior Tiger Marcus Watkins made his first start of the season tonight as part of Senior Night festivities. The start was Watkins seventh of his career as a Tiger. Fittingly, Watkins scored Mizzou's first points of the game.

At 18:15 mark of the first half, center Kalen Grimes took his tenth charge of the season on the defensive side of the ball, which leads all Tigers in that category.

Matt Lawrence hit five three-pointers giving him 76 on the season. The five trey's moved Lawrence up two spots to ninth all time for three pointers in a season. Lawrence passed both Jason Sutherland and Rickey Paulding.

Guard Matt Lawrence scored all 17 of his points in the first half, the most for any Tiger player this season.

Senior forward Marcus Watkins set a new career-high with 15 points in his final regular season game at Mizzou Arena. His previous career-high of 11 points against Nebraska on March 5, 2006 was on last year's Senior Night. Watkins also set a career-high with 6 rebounds.

Stefhon Hannah and Keon Lawrence tallied 13 of the Tigers 22 total assists. Hannah had all seven of his assists in the first half, while Lawrence had a career high six throughout the game.
