Opening statement:
“Colorado is a very good defensive team. They made some good plays and we made some good plays on our defense and offense. I give them credit for that. I'm very proud of my football team for how it competed. As you all know in games things happen, we have to be able to react and you know you might make a bad play or two. I thought it was a great team victory, and I know I've said this before but I really like my football team and their competitiveness and their work ethic. We're far from perfect, but I guess the good news is we can get better. We are going to enjoy this and tomorrow morning we're going to wake up and get ready for Texas Tech.”
on where he was in 1981 the last time Mizzou was 5-0:
“I was at the University of Washington and I was coaching receivers at the time. First we were talking about one game at a time and I know this sounds boring and dull. I'm being redundant, but that's not what this team is battling. It's their request, that's why. But I'm certainly proud of our team thus far we'll try to keep getting better.”
on responding to adversity in past and present teams:
“Well I just think they are competitors. I think they respond well. They let the bad plays go and move on and that happen today, they made some big plays. We made some good third or fourth down plays in order to hold them to field goals or get them out of drives. You're going to have to do that and I think overall we did it a few times last year and sometimes we didn't, obviously in the bowl game we did it. We are mature as a team and mature as a program. That doesn't mean you're going to win them all either as long as you're fighting and competing and these kids did it and I'm very proud of them.”
on Chase Daniel:
“Chase he's a pretty good player isn't he… we saw this last year when he came in as a back up quarterback last year putting himself up there with Brad Smith. That's the reason we saw the same thing last year. Obviously he's worked very hard, he's a special guy and he's got a lot of “it” and intangibles is necessary to be a quality quarterback. And I think he's very confident but if you ask anyone of his teammates he's never cocky at all. That's not a part of him at all. He is certainly a concrete player. Now I see things he's doing, he under threw a ball with Will Franklin wide open, and getting through that a little bit. There's a time to underthrow the ball and the sidelines is a time to do and he's got to learn those things.”

On starting the season undefeated
“It feels good to be 5-0. On offense we had a couple of breakdowns but we came out and executed a lot. We got points behind the defense to get them going; e really moved the ball today, better than we did last week. We're looking forward to going down to Texas this week. It's going to be a real big shoot out down there. Texas Tech has a good offense and we're looking forward to playing those guys.”
On Chase Daniel
“Chase is the man. Everybody calls him the man. He just looks to give everyone the ball, to give everyone a chance to do something and make a play happen. He's making good decisions. He's still learning, it's only his fifth start as a collegiate quarterback, and he's looking pretty good.”

On being undefeated
“I think it's a great thing. Enjoy it now, but I'm ready to get to work on the next game.”
On the possibility of being the Big 12's only unbeaten team
“I don't think it's important right now as far as our team, we need to keep our head out of the clouds and keep our feet on the ground right now, and just worry about what Mizzou's doing. We don't need all the outside attention and things like that. We need to stay more team oriented and stay together, that will be the most important thing for us.”
On improving for next week's game against Texas Tech
“Stopping the run; that was a big thing, and I know some of those yards were scrambling out of the backfield, but that's still part of contain, that's still part of the run-game, and that's something we really need to stop if we want to stop teams down the road.”

“I don't know, that's for you guys to decide, we just come out here with the same attitude every week. Coming to practice to work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and polish things up on Thursday. Then we come out here and execute on the field.”

“It feels really good. I had no idea I was that close to the record, and I'm happy. You can't focus on your stats, your accolades; it's all about the team and the big picture and we just have to keep rolling.”

“The only thing that matters to me is that we're 1-0 in conference. This is the start of a new season, and we passed it today. There's some troubles like every game, we faced some adversity there and we got through it.”
