Mizzou Finishes Eleventh at Season-Opening Tournament

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - - The Mizzou Men's Golf team opened up the 2006-07 season by finishing 11th at the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate in Sugar Grove, Ill. The Tigers carded a final round 314 on Sunday after rounds of 310 and 318 on Saturday.
Senior John Kelly was the highest finisher for MU in the individual standings, placing in a tie for 19th place with a three-round total of 227 (78-77-75). Kelly turned in his best round of the weekend on Sunday with a three-over par 75, which included an even-par 36 on his second nine holes of the day.
Fellow senior Trent Twaddle finished in a tie for 30th spot with a 54-hole total of 235 (79-78-78) after a 78 on Sunday.
Redshirt freshman Bud Reynolds gained his first collegiate tournament action this weekend, finishing in a tie for 43rd place with a score of 239 (75-80-84). Sophomore Peter Malnati carded a three-round total of 241 (79-84-78) to finish 50th and junior Chris Zeller finished tied for 56th place with a 244 (78-83-83) three-round total.
Louisville won the tournament with an 895 score and the Cardinals' Derek Fathauer and SMU's Colt Knost tied for medalist honors with three-round totals of 221.
Next up for the Tigers is the Wolverine Intercollegiate in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sept. 16-17.
