Riddle Takes Big 12 Player Of The Week Honors For Second Consecutive Week

Dec. 11, 2006

IRVING, Texas - A day after posting her fourth-consecutive game with 20 points, Missouri's EeTisha Riddle was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week, in a vote by media representatives from around the league, becoming just the third player in league history accomplish the feat in back-to-back weeks.

Riddle joins Oklahoma's Phylesha Whaley (1999) and Courtney Paris (2006) as the only players to ever capture the Player of the Week honor in consecutive weeks since the Big 12 was formed 11 years ago. In Mizzou annals she joins former Tiger Julie Helm as multiple consecutive league winners as Helm won three-straight Rookie of the Week's in the 1996-97 season.

Riddle averaged 22 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists for the week as she posted back-to-back double-doubles while leading Missouri (9-1) to wins over Ohio and at Northwestern. She shot 66 percent from the floor in the two games.

Against Ohio, Riddle scored 18 of her career-high 22 points in the second half as the Tigers won 70-67. She dominated the game in the second 20 minutes, making MU's first five field goals and seven of its eight total in the period. She finished with a season-best 12 rebounds, including four offensive.

On Sunday the O'Fallon, Ill, native was 10-of-13 from the field as she tied her career-best total again with 22 points at Northwestern. Her 11 rebounds (with four more offensive) were a game high. Riddle had 16 points and nine boards at the half and grabbed her 10th rebound two minutes into the second half.

This is the second time she has earned the award in her career.

Missouri will take a week off for final exams before opening a three-game homestand on Sunday, Dec. 17 against South Dakota State. Tip-off at Mizzou Arena is set for 1 p.m. Central time.
