Pregame Notes:
- Missouri won the toss and elected to receive; the Tigers defended the North end zone. The Tigers have received the opening kickoff in every game this season.
- Weather: 61 degrees, wind SW at 14 mph, cloudy
- Team captains: Mizzou: #8 David Overstreet, #33 Dedrick Harrington, #55 Mike Cook, #86 Brad Ekwerekwu ... Kansas: #40 Mike Rivera, #74 David Ochoa, #85 Derek Fine, #93 James McClinton.
Series Notes:
- In its 115th game, the Missouri-Kansas rivalry is the second-oldest in the nation. The two teams trail only Minnesota and Wisconsin, who have played 116 games (including the 2006 contest).
- The series is now tied 53-53-9 to make it the nation's closest rivalry with at least 100 games played ... MU now holds a 8.5-4.0 lead over the Jayhawks in the Border Showdown, presented by the Midwest Ford Dealers.
Offense Notes:
- PK Jeff Wolfert set the MU single-season kick scoring record with his 44 yard field goal on the Tigers' opening possession. Wolfert, who ended the game with 91 points on the year, broke P/K Adam Crossett's previous record of 81 set in 2005 ... Wolfert also recorded his 17th field goal of the year in the fourth quarter to set the Mizzou single-season field goal record. He had tied Tom Whelihan (1985) and Jeff Jacke (1992) with his 16th field goal of the year in the first quarter.
- QB Chase Daniel threw for a career high 356 yards to become the first MU quarterback to record over 3,000 passing yards in a season. Daniel entered the game 159 yards shy of the mark and went over 3,000 with a 19-yard completion to WR Brad Ekwerekwu on the opening play of the second quarter ... Daniel also became the sixth Mizzou quarterback to throw for 350 yards in a game and the first since Kirk Farmer against Baylor in 2001.
- QB Chase Daniel is now 14 yards shy of breaking the Mizzou season total offense record. Daniel's 3,592 yards of total offense in 2006 trails just Brad Smith's 2005 record of 3,605. Daniel also upped his season touchdown passes record to 26.
- QB Chase Daniel and WR Jared Perry connected on a 74-yard touchdown to set their respective passing and receiving career highs. Daniel's previous passing career high was 68 yards against Ohio this season while Perry's old mark was a 35-yard reception against Murray State earlier this year. The play was also the longest MU passing play since Kent Kiefer completed a 79-yard pass to Linzy Collins against Kansas in 1989.
- WR Jared Perry recorded 81 receiving yards to post a new career high in his second consecutive game. Perry had set his previous high last week with 59 yards against Iowa State.
- TE Chase Coffman scored his seventh touchdown of the season on a five-yard reception to set the MU single-season tight end touchdown record. Coffman, who had held the single-season mark with Kellen Winslow (1978) and Dwayne Blakley (1999), also scored a 10-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for his eighth of the year.
- TE Chase Coffman caught his 100th career reception on a 10-yard fourth quarter field goal and now stands third in the MU record book in career receptions by a tight end.
- TB Tony Temple scored his longest rushing touchdown of the season with a 20-yard rush in the third quarter. His previous long was eight yards at Texas Tech on Oct. 7.
- WR Greg Bracey scored his first career touchdown on a 26-yard reception.
- TE Martin Rucker and TE Chase Coffman each caught a game-high seven receptions in the game. With his catches, Rucker extended his MU career tight end reception record to 113 and Coffman jumped into third place with 100.
Defense Notes:
- LB Marcus Bacon recorded his 100th tackle of the year on the first of seven tackles in the game. Bacon entered the game ranked fourth in the Big 12 in the category.
Miscellaneous Notes:
- Mizzou now has eight regular season wins in a season for only the 10th time in school history and first since 2003. Head Coach Gary Pinkel joins former coaches Don Faurot and Dan Devine as the only MU coaches to accomplish the feat twice.
- The Tigers committed no turnovers for the second time this season despite a Kansas defense that entered the contest ranked eighth in the nation in turnovers forced.
