COLUMBIA, Mo. - - The Mizzou Men's Golf team has added a fourth signee who will join the team in the fall of 2007. Chris Johnson of Hickman High School in Columbia has singed a National Letter of Intent, MU Head Coach Mark Leroux announced on Wednesday.
Johnson joins Michael Garden (St Albans, Mo.), Will Hogan (Ozark, Mo.) and Tyler Hillis (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) to make up the 2007-08 freshman class for the Tigers.
"Statistically, Chris is one of the best golfers locally," Leroux said. "He is a great team player and is a good addition to our program. Chris has a very focused demeanor on the course and is a very tough competitor."
Johnson qualified for the U.S Junior Amateur and opened play with a first round 72 of the tournament. He finished in a tie for seventh at the 2006 Missouri State High School Boy Golf Championships, which included a final round score of two-under-par 69.
