COLUMBIA, Mo. - After dropping game one of the Fall World Series, the Black team won the next two games, including a 7-2 win in game three on Monday, to claim the Fall World Series title, two games to one.
Freshman Ryan Allen put the Black team on the board with a two-run, two-out home run in the top of the second inning. The lead was short-lived as Team Gold put up two runs in the third inning, but that would be all of the scoring for Gold.
The game remained tied at two until the seventh inning before the Black team put up five runs in the final three innings to claim the victory. Senior Dan Quinn had an RBI single in the seventh and sophomore John Kruse delivered a two-out single in the eighth inning to drive in a run. Kruse was 2-for-3 on the night and drove in three runs.
Team Black out the game out of reach with a three-run top of the ninth inning, which included a two-run double by Kruse.
Junior John Thies took the victory for the Black team, allowing two runs on just two hits in 5.2 innings on the mound.
