Oct. 22, 2006

The Black team evened the Fall World Series after a 12-2 win in game two of the series on Sunday at Taylor Stadium. Junior Rick Zagone picked up the win, allowing just three hits in 5.1 innings of work and striking out three on the afternoon.

The Gold squad held a 2-1 lead after two innings, but the Black team put up six runs in the next two innings to take control of the game. Sophomore Ryan Lollis connected for a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the third inning to put Team Black ahead.

The lead was extended to 7-2 as freshman Greg Folgia delivered an RBI double and junior Lee Fischer drove in a run with a two-out triple in the fourth inning.

Senior Dan Quinn added a solo home run in the sixth inning as the Black squad added five runs in the final three innings.

After the two runs for the Gold team in the second inning, Zagone, along with relievers Ryan Allen and Ryan Gargano, held the gold team scoreless for the final seven innings.

With the series now tied 1-1, the deciding game of the series will be played at 6 p.m. on Monday at Taylor Stadium.
