Gold Takes Game One of Fall World Series

The Gold squad took a 1-0 lead in Mizzou Baseball's Fall World Series, by taking a 13-2 win on Friday in the opener of the three-game intersquad series.

Team Gold jumped out to a quick lead with five runs in the bottom of the first inning, getting an RBI triple from freshman Aaron Senne and a home run off the bat of junior Dan Pietroburgo that drove in two runs. Pietroburgo added a double in the third inning and a two-run single in the fourth and finished with four RBIs on the night.

The Gold squad scored runs in each of the first four innings and put runs on the board in all but two innings on Friday. Senior John McKee had a pair of RBI doubles, with one coming in the second inning, adding another in the seventh. He finished with three runs driven in.

Sophomore Aaron Crow started for the Gold team, striking out seven batters in six innings of scoreless work. He allowed just three hits to take the victory.

Game two of the Fall World Series will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday with the final game to take place at 6 p.m. on Monday.
