LINCOLN, Neb. - The Missouri men's and women's swimming and diving teams combined to win 11 events in a dual meet against Texas A&M Saturday morning at the Devaney Center Natatorium.

Missouri (0-1) fell to A&M (1-0) 151-147 in the men's race while the MU women (0-1) suffered a 181-101 setback to an Aggie squad (2-0) that is expected to be ranked in the upper half of the national rankings when they are released next week.

The men's meet came down to the final race with the Tigers needing to claim the top two places in the 400 free relay to win the team battle. Unfortunately, Mizzou was only able to execute the first-place part of that scenario, and did not secure the win. One of the more noticeable facets of the meet came in the two diving events, where the Aggies scored a 30-6 advantage over the Tigers' lone diver.

"We swam a lot better today and had good intensity and good energy," Tiger coach Brian Hoffer said. "We had some very good times. I like the way they came back after yesterday."

Multiple winners for the men included freshman Dylan Lynn in the 200 and 500 free, junior Bennett Clark in the 50 and 100 free, and freshman Martin Cernansky in the 200 individual medley and 200 breaststroke. Junior backstroker Travis Floyd won the 100 back by more than a second and finished second in the 200.

Cernansky and A&M's Alejandro Jacobo put on a nice three-race battle with the Tiger rookie claiming the 200 IM by 13-hundredths of a second before slipping to second in the 100 breaststroke as Jacobo won by a half-second. The two went head-to-head for the third time, near the end of the meet, in the 200 IM as Cernansky won gold with another margin of less than a half-second.

Freshman walk-on Ryan Meeker dove through a back injury to finish second in the 3-meter and fourth in the 1-meter in his first-ever collegiate contest.

Sophomore Jill Granger won the 1,000 free before finishing third in the 500 free, while junior Jill Bastien and senior Amy Charley earned the top two spots in the 200 IM to highlight the Mizzou women in the pool. Senior Kim Massaro won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events.

Missouri returns to action in two weeks when the Tiger women host arch-rival Kansas on Friday, Oct. 27 at the Mizzou Aquatic Center at 6 p.m.
