COLUMBIA, Mo.--The Missouri Baseball team played its annual Black & Gold Intersquad Game on Friday, ending in a 6-6 tie after seven innings. The Gold squad's C Dan Pietroburgo (Belleville, Ill.) went 3-for-3 in the game, adding a sacrifice bunt.

Each team used a different pitcher each inning. John Thies, Ryan Gargano, Travis Crow, and Phil McCormick held their opponents hitless and scoreless in their respective innings of service.

The Black team jumped out with the lead in the top of the first, scoring off a Ryan Lollis RBI double that scored Evan Frey. Folgia drove in Lollis for the second run in the inning.

In the bottom half of the first, the Gold team took away the lead with a three-run frame. Kurt Calvert led off the inning with a double to right and later scored off a John McKee sacrifice fly. Gary Arndt and Brock Bold also scored in the inning.

The Black team gained the advantage again in the second inning adding two more runs to go up 4-3. Junior Lee Fischer (Orland Park, Ill.) scored off freshman Trevor Coleman's double, with Coleman later scoring on another Folgia single.

Transfer Ryan Gargano (Blue Springs, Mo.) pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the third for the Gold team. The Gold kept the momentum going, tying the score at four with a high-and-deep home run by McKee that cleared the left-field fence and flew against the wind. A strong gaper to right-center by Dan Wise (Olathe, Kan.) in the fourth scored Sean Finley to give Gold the 5-4 lead.

Fischer drove home Folgia in the top of the sixth for the Black squad to tie the game at five.

Gold once again reclaimed the lead after Gary Arndt grabbed a double by pulling the ball to left field, scoring Wise. Trevor Coleman scored in the top of the seventh for the Black team to tie at six and force a bottom-half of the inning.

Folgia gave up a single to Aaron Senne to lead off the bottom of the seventh, and Pietroburgo's sacrifice bunt moved Senne to second. After a deep fly to center by Mach, Senne had reached third. Folgia struck out Finley to close out the game.
