Two-Day Statewide Outreach Trip Covers Southern Missouri

On Thursday, Mizzou Director of Athletics Mike Alden, along with Director of Broadcast Operations Mike Kelly and Assistant Director of Media Relations Josh Murray completed a two-day, 875-mile trip through Southern Missouri continuing the Statewide Outreach efforts.

Since arriving at Mizzou, Alden has visited 113 of the 114 counties in Missouri. The only county left to visit is Pemiscot County in Southeast Missouri. A trip is planned for next Thursday Pemiscot County to complete all 114 counties.

This week's trip began with a drive down the eastern border of the state, visiting St. Genevieve and Perry Counties, before turning west into Bollinger, Madison, Wayne Iron, Reynolds and Dent Counties.

Alden, Kelly and Murray made a stop at Barrett-Jensen Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Fredericktown to visit with Jeff Jensen, then continued west, driving through the Mark Twain National Forest and the Sam A. Baker State Park stopping at the Des Arc General Store in Reynolds County and the Bunker Feed Store in Dent County.

After heading through Wright and Webster counties, the first day of the trek concluded in Springfield, Mo.

Day two began by heading south to Crane in Barry County and continuing to Stone County, where the Tiger staff members visited the University of Missouri Extension Office in Galena.

The trio then continued along the southern border of Missouri to Ozark County before turning north and stopping at the Extension Offices in Douglas County and Wright County.
